Choose your queue workflow
Pick the stages your tickets move through — the general flow or an industry preset — and switch safely.

A workflow defines the columns on your board, the buttons staff tap, and the statuses a customer sees. One workflow is active per location.
The built-in options
- General service queue (default): Online check-in → Arrived → In progress → Complete → Closed.
- Restaurant waitlist: Waitlisted (joined, maybe remotely) → Arrived (at the host stand) → Table ready → Seated → Departed.
- Take-a-number counter: Waiting → Called → Being served → Done (this one powers take-a-number / windowed mode).
- Order / pickup ready: Order received → In preparation → Ready for pickup → Picked up.
- Clinic patient flow: Checked in → Roomed → With provider → Checkout → Done.
- Repair drop-off: Dropped off → Diagnosing → Awaiting approval (optional) → In repair → Ready for pickup → Picked up.
- Roll call (presence): Checked in → Present ⇄ Away → Checked out. People (or a staffer) mark themselves present or away, so you always know who's here at a glance — class attendance, tour groups, field trips, shuttles, events. Best paired with self-service moves so people can mark their own presence.
Every workflow also has Cancelled and (where it makes sense) No-show endings.
Switch workflows
- Open the Queue workflow section:
- Classic menus: Settings → expand Queue workflow.
- Queue screen: Set up → Services & stages (the Services & stages tab of Settings) → Queue workflow.
- Select a flow and press Save workflow. The Current badge marks the flow that's saved.
Switching is safe: your QR code and check-in link don't change, history is kept, and tickets already in progress stay on the board, matched to the closest stage of the new flow. New check-ins use the new flow immediately.
Line vs Take-a-number
You don't pick the Take-a-number counter flow by hand to run booths or windows — switching the location to Take-a-number (in How people are served here — on Set up or at the top of classic Settings — or on Manage windows) sets it for you. Switching back to Line puts back the line stages you had before (the general flow if none were remembered). See Turn on windowed mode.
