What SiteCheckin does — and the words we use
A two-minute overview of the product and the key terms you'll see everywhere else in this help center.
SiteCheckin gives your customers a way to join a line before they're standing in it. They scan a QR code (or open a link), fill in a short form — no app, no account — and watch their place in line live on their phone. Your team runs the whole queue from one live dashboard.
Key terms
- A Business contains one or more locations, a shared team, and one subscription plan.
- A Location is a place where customers join a queue — a shop, branch, office, or library.
- A Ticket is one customer's place in a queue. Every ticket gets a short number for the board
(like #12) and a longer reference code (like
260730-ABC-012) for records and search. - A Workflow defines the stages a ticket moves through — for example Online check-in → Arrived → In progress → Complete → Closed.
- A Resource is a bookable item or space belonging to a location — a study room, printer, court, or charger. Resources run their own automatic, timed queues.
- A Window is a staffed counter, desk, or station. In windowed mode (think DMV or service counter), staff at numbered windows "call the next number" instead of working a board.
- The display board is a read-only screen for your waiting room; the kiosk is a take-a-number tablet for windowed locations.
The three queue styles
- Board queue (default) — staff move tickets across a live board. Fits most businesses.
- Resource queues — automatic and timer-based; the next person is assigned the moment a room or device frees up. Runs alongside your main queue.
- Windowed queue — staff pull the next number to their window. Replaces the board queue at that location while enabled.
