Force-release a stuck window
A staff member left without ending their shift and their window is stuck with customers attached? An admin can release it and send its live tickets back to the front of the line.
Requires Location Admin
The situation
Someone took a window, then left — laptop closed, shift over, no End shift. The window shows Away, and any customers already called to it are attached to a window nobody is working.
If you do nothing, the window is released by itself about ten minutes after it went silent. To fix it now:
Release it
From Manage windows (your word, e.g. Manage booths; on the Queue screen: Set up → Manage booths, kiosk & what they're called →):
- Each window shows who holds it and Available, On break, or Away — console silent.
- On the stuck window, select Force release and confirm.
From My window (Queue screen, two or more windows): the All windows strip shows every window. Select Release on a colleague's window and confirm — you stay on My window.
The window is freed, and every live ticket at it goes back to the front of the line — the next free window calls them first. The release is recorded in Activity with how many tickets went back.
Force release only appears on a window someone currently holds. If the window frees itself before you tap it, nothing happens ("already free").
